Hi, can I know what type of machine it is used in this video for the EPS recycling? Is it what they call a thermodensifier which removes air from the EPS? I’m actually doing a research on EPS in terms of food packaging, your answers will be really helpful. Thank you

  • wscusa says:

In the next step the product is screened and filtered, then re-melted and pelletized. From the pellets new products are manufactured. IE picture frames, crown molding, etc

  • wscusa says:

Yes, thermo at 110-150C, EPS is mostly air around 90%

  • kingpav says:

Cant they turn it back to EPS? That would be better as what do the picture frames and whatever else it gets used for end up being recycled for?

Chemistry wasn’t my fav subject at school although it was quite interesting and I did quite like it.

  • wscusa says:

Yes, cost of recycling is very high

So beautiful. I wouldn’t be upset to pay more tax for establishments like this. The government should step up and provide more incentive. Anyone who complains should be ignored.

So no harmful emissions? How long does it take to process 1m3 of polystyrene? Do you ship these to New Zealand? if so how much for a unit?

The compacted EPS still appears to be full of air. After “thermodensification”, what is the gas content? What is the biggest use for recycled EPS?

  • wscusa says:

most of the EPS is used for picture frames, crown molding

  • wscusa says:

EPS is mostly air around 95%, what u see is all PS with no air. useage is picture frames and crown molding

  • wscusa says:
